The next DAMTA event is October 25:
Fall Course Presentation: Debussy's mature instrumental and vocal compositions: the zenith of a period.
Dr. Willem van Schalkwyk, Assistant Professor of Piano and Coaching at UNC, will present "Debussy's mature instrumental and vocal compositions: the zenith of a period." His rejection of the term, "Impressionism" not withstanding, Debussy's compositions were to become the epitome of the esthetic ideas of that movement. By examining his three late instrumental sonatas, his settings of poetry by Baudelaire and Verlaine, and selections from Estampes, Images and Preludes, we'll explore the essence of his late compositional style.
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: 1332 S. Broadway, Denver
